a pic a day (day 178)

the search for our patriotic hunt in commemoration of malaysia’s 54th independence day anniversary started yesterday with the visit that gave a majestic view of the national monument taken from the rear halfway between the cenotaph and the bronze figures while looking south in kuala lumpur. august 2011.

a trip to the alpine shire of victoria state would not be completed without a consolation photo of the local church, the bright uniting church at ireland st. although the brick architecture is quite modern, during the falls season, it is quite dreamily exhilirating. alas mine was taken in winter. june 2010.

while exploring the many functions of the new s95 at the office yesterday, i realised that the weather was quite gracious enough for some photo testing. from the 13th floor i walked to the far end of the block, opened the emergency door and came into the landing of the emergency stairs. oh and the view was magnificent. using the colour accent function and facing southeast (with a little bout of vertigo), i picked the green to maintain the foliage on the foreground while leaving the dense concrete and skyline of kuala lumpur downtown in monochrome. noon august 2011.

these days it is quite rare for me to return to my parents’ home village in kelantan. since most of their kids are in the klang valley, it was them who came to visit us regularly. on those occasions that i did go home, i tried to bring them wherever they wanted to go or eat. this pic was taken facing east while we were waiting for our seafood lunch order at restoran terapung de’ tunas, on the famous lagoon of pantai sri tujuh, also known as the beach of the seven lagoons near tumpat. the food menu was unimportant but the smiles on the old folks happy faces were what mattered the most. june 2011.

a 132 kv electric power transmission creates a grid (within the national power grid) against the sky near jalan kuching in kuala lumpur. the pylon and its overhead power lines are an eyesore for landscape photography but once in a while you just have to make do with what you got. pic was taken using the new canon s95 looking towards southeast. august 2011.

after riding more than 4 km by tackling slopy track, hurting our butts on the hard rented bike seats, resting everytime we reached a hilltop and sweating profusely, we finally arrived at the endpoint more than half an hour later. luckily we were offered with a tranquil and resplendent view of sg. baru dam and its reservoir, complete with fish rearing pontoons for us to take funny steps on while being demonstrated the kind of fishes that they have by the park management staff. bukit cerakah agricultural park, july 2011.
