after witnessing a dreadful stampeding of illegal immigrants by the pursuing immigration officers and the police that almost caught alif in the path while in the act of performing his mandarin dance routine, the sky seemed to apologise by presenting us a memorable rolling cloud formation at sunset over kota kinabalu. the pic was taken while facing west towards gaya island taken from the new waterfront, next to jalan tun fuad stephens. june 2011.

a momentary lapse in rational thinking led me on a crusade jihad suicidal mission to conquer tabur east near taman melawati. the quartz ridge hill is an uglier, harder to climb and more vicious which has claimed many lives than the good looking and more famous twin sister tabur west. the final scaling of the 20-25 meter vertical rock wall to reach the shadeless peak was achieved only by motivational chain smoking of preferred brand. despite shedding blood and sweat, the 360° views from the top were stunning landscapes of tabur west, titiwangsa range and klang valley. pic was taken of the klang gates dam reservoir and the titiwangsa range while looking north. may 2007.

a male black throated sunbird sapping the nectar from a bottlebrush flower near silverpark hill resort, fraser’s hill. well known for birdwatching heaven, the species, among other feathered fowls, migratory or non-migratory, practically thriving in the montane forest throughout the years and reasonably easy to spot. december 2010.

while tackling an uphill climb along telok paku trail, bako national park, we crossed paths with this shy terrestrial hermit crab of coenobita genus, safely retracted its whole body upon being discovered. we waited for quite sometime before it began to show its face for a solo portrait and we parted ways soon after. february 2011.

the most photographed object in fraser’s hill, the vine covered clock tower sits among old tudor style architecture buildings in the english village square. the spot was surprisingly empty as renovation work was in progress at the time the photo was captured in december 2007. nowadays it is brimming with people. 😦
