the only thing that stopped me from giving him a back rub was a sign that said he bites! judging from his shoulder and neck muscles, i chickened out. 🙂
Aren’t they too cute? As a child I was quite fixated by the “muddle-headed wombat” and will never forget the first time I saw one (in the wild! what luck). My parents were skiing in the Snowy Mountains, and one day, kicking my heels while they whooshed around in the spring snow, there it was, waddling across the snow to a clump of rocks a little further up the mountain. My one and only sighting of the elusive wombat! How lucky you were to see one in a wildlife sanctuary.
