we were unlucky to have a cloudy sunrise atop mt. pananjakan (2,770m) on the tengger caldera rim looking south towards the expansive views of mt. batok (2,470m – foreground), mt. bromo (2,329m – on the left with the large crater) and the distant mt. semeru (3,676m – behind the clouds, the highest in java). an hour later our luck changed! february 2012.
